The Sint-Paulusvrienden vzw (St. Paul's Friends Non-Profit-Organisation) is responsible for the guided tours of the church.

Group visits:


The St. Paul's Friends organize thematic tours of the ancient monastery of the Antwerp Dominicans, one of the most beautiful churches of the country. The guided tours last 90 minutes and are available in Dutch, French, and English. The specialised guides will - if possible - respond to the specific interests of your group.

 

Program 1: Forgotten treasures in an old port neighbourhood

In this introduction we make a journey through 800 years of history. The highlight will be the Antwerp school of painters including Rubens, Van Dyck, Jordaens, Teniers and a lot more. We visit the church building and talk about the Great Fire of 1968. We conclude with the apotheosis: the chancel with its monumental high altar.

Program 2: The triumph of sculptures

There are approximately 200 sculptures, among them pieces by Quellin, Verbruggen and Kerricx. The most beautiful church furniture of our cultural area will be seen as well as the famous Calvary. Baroque art at its fullest.

Program 3: Unknown St. Paul's

The old monastery with its art patrimony, the vaults, the archaeological site and maybe the attics and roofs. We discover the secrets of a distant past.

Program 4: The new splendid treasury

It is all about gold, silver and diamonds, among them the oldest diamonds of Antwerp. This guided tour may be combined with each of the above-mentioned tours.
